A Staff Favorite: Brooks Luxe Bra

SUPPORT: 5 OF 5 STARS

This was identified as a high support piece by every runner that tested it. All of the reviewers, ranging in sizes from Small up to XXLarge, felt this bra provided maximum support through a range of movements and activities: running, strength training, biking and working. It was tested through high impact movements like box jumps and jump squats, along with other strength movements. It was mostly tested on the run and was consistently given 5 stars for support. 

"The bottom band stays in place like a second skin, comfortably snug, and I feel well put together and comfortably supported."

This bra is a favorite for our female staff and well-known for the added features. The pocket in the back of the bra fits a phone perfectly, allowing you to avoid it weighing you down in your shorts or avoiding a run belt altogether! It fell one star short only because this version was missing two additional pockets from the previous version.

"The neckline is lower which offers a much more comfortable fit and it continues to be my go to bra because of the phone pocket."

MATERIALS: 4 OF 5 STARS

The fabric used for the Luxe line is buttery soft. All of the runners came away saying it felt so comfortable to move in. It was split between 4 and 5 stars because the material was a tad heavier, but more comfortable than the previous version of this bra. Overall, majority of the runners had less chafing and thought it wicked away moisture quite well in sweaty workouts. 

"I really love the soft, high-quality fabric—it feels great against the skin."

When asked, it was unanimous that the Luxe Pocket Bra is what everyone is reaching for on the run. There was debate over the changes from the previous version, but all in all it was discussed and decided that the update takes the crown. This bra remains a staff favorite at The Vark. 

"I find myself reaching for it for all my workouts... I had to order a second one."

MEET THE RUNNERS

Lizzie is an average runner, who tries her best and strength trains 3 days a week in hopes it will help her run faster. She spent most of her time wearing the bra strength training and for few runs. She is 5'8" and wears a size XXL in the Luxe Pocket Bra. 

Melissa is a subtle crusher on the roads. She is training for a Fall marathon and putting in many miles in the Luxe Pocket Bra during her current training block. Melissa wears a medium in the Luxe Pocket Bra which fit true to size in comparison to her other sports bras. 

Erin is a new-ish runner after begrudgingly picking up the hobby after playing lacrosse for 20+ years. After swearing she would never run more than a mile post graduation, she has completed two half marathons, a marathon, and an ultra with plans for more in the future. She loves a good trail run but also enjoys the road as well. She typically wears a small in a sports bra, the Luxe Pocket bra was no different.

Sheena dabbles in all disciplines of running: track, trail, road, grass... she does it all! Not only is she a runner, but she's always on the move doing other activities such as hot fitness and pilates. She is 5'3" and wears a size small in the Luxe Pocket Bra.
