As we closed the door on 2024, we also said goodbye to an instrumental part of our team, owner Bruce Haines. Now, as the new year has begun, we are excited to embrace an ownership transition to Andy and Sheena Wells. After more than a decade as integral members of the Aardvark team, they bring a wealth of experience, passion, and an unwavering commitment to our customers and community. Andy and Sheena are dedicated to honoring Aardvark's legacy while continuing to innovate and grow as a hub for the community and encourage movement & well being. This seamless transition has come with several changes for the shop, all of which are in hopes of developing a stronger sense of community, both internally and externally.
Coming into 2025, Andy and Sheena wanted to make their vision clear. Though the shop has had some changes, we are going back to our roots this year and have announced a theme under which we will operate this year: Values in Motion. Each quarter the shop plans to highlight one of our core values, starting with Encouraging.
As the year has begun, we kicked off with several ways for the community to get involved in their movement journeys. Our virtual plank challenge just came to a close with a Plank Off and Hoka Demo on February 5th. Frozen Feet is underway as walkers and runners work towards their goal of 1 mile every day for 6 weeks during the coldest time of year. If you missed Frozen Feet registration, you are still able to join us for a weekly walk or run every Wednesday night at 6PM starting and ending at the shop. We also are hosting a special Frozen Feet Vark Trail Hike & Run on February 16th at Dodson St Park that all are welcome to join! As we look towards the end of the quarter we are excited to highlight women in sport with collaborations with Trail Sisters Lehigh Valley and The Running Kind. This month we introduced new store hours, now opening the shop on weekdays at 11am instead of 10am. We hope that this extra hour of team time will allow us to give our undivided attention to our customers in the hours we are on the floor!
